Yahaya Bello Petitions IGP, Demands Prosecution of Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Over Alleged Defamation

Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, accusing suspended senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of making defamatory and inciting statements against him.

Bello, through his lawyer, N.A. Abubakar, called on the police to invite Akpoti-Uduaghan to prove her allegations or face arrest and prosecution for criminal defamation and incitement. He also demanded a public apology and retraction of her claims, which include a shocking accusation that Bello was instructed by Senate President Akpabio to orchestrate her assassination.

The ex-governor’s legal team described the statements as false, reckless, and politically motivated, warning that such utterances threaten public peace and damage reputations.

The petition comes as Akpoti-Uduaghan battles her own legal issues, including a sexual harassment case involving Akpabio and a six-month suspension from the Senate.
