Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has declared his intention to become Nigeria’s president come 2023.
The professor of law and former attorney-general of Lagos state made declared his interest via a campaign video released on Monday.
He will be running under the banner of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I am today, with utmost humility formally declaring my intention to run for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the platform of APC,” Osinbajo said in a short text accompanying his campaign video.
The declaration will put Osinbajo on a collision path with APC leader and former Lagos governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu who has been in the news since signifying his intention to succeed Muhammadu Buhari.
Transportation minister Rotimi Amaechi, former Imo governor Rochas Okorocha, Ebonyi governor David Umahi and Kogi’s Yahaya Bello are also in the race for APC’s presidential mandate.
