Yobe Hisbah Destroys 51 Cartons of Alcohol, Resolves 565 Civil Cases

The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has destroyed 51 cartons of alcohol and 18 jerrycans of methylene chloride (locally known as Madarar Sukurdai) in line with the state’s Islamic laws prohibiting intoxicants.

Chairman of the Commission, Yahuza Abubakar, announced the seizure on Wednesday, reaffirming the Hisbah’s commitment to upholding religious values.

Abubakar also revealed that the Commission successfully resolved 565 civil cases in the past year, including family disputes, inheritance issues, business disagreements, unpaid rents, and farmer-herder clashes — most of which were settled through peaceful reconciliation.
