Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has officially pulled out of the Peoples Democratic Party as the party continues to battle internal chaos and a deepening leadership crisis.
In a letter dated November 4, 2025, and submitted to the Chairman of Sagba Abogunde, Ward 2, Ede North Local Government, Adeleke stated clearly that he could no longer remain in the party due to the unresolved conflict at the national level.
In his words:
“Due to the current leadership crisis within the national structure of the Peoples Democratic Party, I hereby resign my membership of the PDP with immediate effect.”
The resignation was acknowledged and received by the Ward Chairman, Kamoudeen Alamu.
Sources within the party revealed that Adeleke’s exit did not come as a surprise, as the internal dispute had created tension across several state chapters. The Osun PDP itself has reportedly been struggling to maintain unity following weeks of disagreements over the governorship primary process.
The State PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi, later announced that Adeleke would no longer be seeking the party’s ticket for the 2026 governorship election despite being previously screened and cleared as the sole aspirant.
This announcement came just hours before the party’s scheduled primaries on December 2, 2025, where Adeleke was expected to be officially affirmed as the governorship candidate.
His resignation has now thrown the Osun political landscape into uncertainty, with many waiting to see what party he will align with next and how this move will shape the upcoming election.
