Police Suspend DPO Over Renovation of Station by Cultists in Rivers [Video]
The Rivers State Police Command has suspended the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Abuloma Division over the renovation of the Abuloma Police Outpost by suspected cultists.
This followed the circulation of a video showing the suspected members of the DNKI (Vikings) in Trans Amadi, Rivers State (Trans Marine Platoon) visiting the police outpost for the unveiling of the facility they renovated.Compare TVs
As seen in the clip shared on X on Thursday, the uniformed cultists had repainted and redesigned the interior of the station while also mounting outside the station, a signpost with inscription warning members of the community against committing crime.
This had sparked outrage from members of the public who condemned the gesture and called out the Rivers Police Command.
Reacting to the development in a statement issued on Friday by its spokesperson, Agabe Blessing, the police condemned the gesture.
The police held that its facilities must not be used as avenue for criminal groups to public validation as it announced the suspension of the DPO incharge of the division as well as the officer in charge of the affected outpost.
