The elder brother of Sound Sultan, Dare Fasasi who is better known as Baba Dee, has cursed those he described as “fake friends” for allegedly abandoning the late rapper’s family.
Sound Sultan, real name Olanrewaju Fasasi, passed away on 11 July last month, reportedly due to throat cancer, at the age of 44. He was buried according to Muslim rites in New York, the United States.
Baba Dee, a musician and actor, said yesterday on Instagram that those who were friends to the singer, songwriter, comedian, and recording artist, did not show up when they were needed the most.
“Fake Friends,” Baba Dee wrote on his Instastories. “Not a call to his wife, didnt bother to attend his memorial event on a sit at home Saturday …Posting picture and video on social media, your deaths shall also be used to generate social media content.”
His comments come after Sound Sultan’s wife, Farida Fasasi, urged people to keep her late husband alive in their hearts by “letting love lead”.
The mother-of-three said living without Sound Sultan was the worst punishment life has thrown her way.
“My dear Aboo, my nights have been so long and cold since you left me. My sweet gentle husband, the love of my entire life, my world. Thank you for giving me the best of yourself for the past years. Our love was truly perfect and I am totally lost without you. I have been told that this is the will of God but I’m still struggling with it. Lanre, I’m struggling daily!!… Time heals right??… Hmmm!” she wrote on social media.
Mrs Farida also thanked “everyone for the immense support and all the kind words towards our family”.
“I do not take this for granted. Lanre was truly the best guy and I count it a privilege to have shared my life with him. Let’s keep him alive in our hearts by letting love lead. Love is the only true religion and Lanre’s life is a perfect example.”
