2023: ‘Nollywood stars did NOT endorse Tinubu for president’ — Foluke Daramola-Salako sets record after viral video

Nollywood star Foluke Daramola-Salako has denied endorsing former Lagos governor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for president.

Daramola-Salako was at an event on Friday where some Nigerian actors were heard singing a song in support of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“One day, Asiwaju will rule Nigeria,” one of them said while others echoed “amen,” a viral video showed.

In another video, another actress led the group to sing in Tinubu’s name.

Following claims that Daramola-Salako, since she was at the event, has endorsed the APC chieftain for the 2023 presidential election, the actress issued a clarification.

“What we went to do yesterday had nothing to do with politics. We are in a group that is advocating for peace and unity in Nigeria,” she said in a video shared on social media.

“Although I am a card-carrying member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), we did not go there to endorse Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for president. And it was not a Nollywood thing.

“We had some Nollywood people there but the event was not about Nollywood. I was not paid in any way for this. It was meant to be a unity and peace campaign. Nothing more, nothing less.”
