Femi Osibona: Owner of collapsed Ikoyi building confirmed dead, corpse recovered from rubble
Femi Osibona, the Chief Executive Officer of Fourscore Homes Limited, is dead.
Osibona is the owner of the company which constructed the 21-storey building that collapsed in Ikoyi, Lagos on Monday. Rescue workers who spoke with GoldMyne TV said his corpse was recovered from the rubbles some minutes ago.
There were concerns over the whereabouts of Osibona, Wale Bob-Oseni, his friend, and others trapped in the building. Bob-Oseni, who was to catch a flight to the US, briefly made a detour to see the project at the invitation of the developer but did not walk out alive.
While nine people were rescued, over 30 have been confirmed dead.
Before venturing into real estate, Osibona used to sell luxury shoes. He began his real estate ‘career’ in Europe and was, according to reports, the first African to erect a seven-storey building in the United Kingdom.
Osibona returned to Africa in 2008 after, according to him, “God told me to do so”.
