Exclusive: Burna Boy Faces Major Career Crash Due to US Fan Incident

There is arguably no other internationally renowned Grammy award-winning artiste from this part of the world who attracts as many negative headlines as he does positive ones, quite like Burna Boy.
In the last few years, as his global fame has gone through the roof, several incidents have given non-fans plenty of reasons to tag the African Giant as rude, Proud, overly aggressive and simply hard to deal with. Most of these issues used to affect only his Nigerian fanbase, until the “not cool” incident of November 2025 pushed the matter to an international level.
The Last Last crooner is now facing a wave of cancelled tour stops in the United States after he kicked out a fan who slept off during his performance.
The fan later shared her story, saying she had been battling depression after losing a loved one and that the public embarrassment she faced at the concert only made things worse. Her account spread quickly online and drew global attention to the incident.

Burna Boy’s attempt at an apology ended up escalating the backlash. Instead of addressing the fan directly, he claimed there was an agenda against him, threw a small shade at Eminem, and then wrote, “I sincerely apologize if I’m wrong. I’m not always right, but I feel right about this.”
To many people, this sounded unnecessarily defensive. Critics argued that he could easily have apologized properly and even tried to make amends, maybe by offering the lady another chance to attend a show in another city, fully paid for. But he didn’t. And now he is seeing firsthand how career damaging cancel culture in the Western world can be, especially for men of colour trying to navigate global entertainment.
Following the backlash, Burna Boy has reportedly been performing to half-filled venues, as many fans are now boycotting his shows. The artiste has also had to cancel his “No Sign of Weakness” North America tour, allegedly due to low ticket sales.
Nigerians have weighed in on the controversy, with many criticizing the singer for repeatedly disrespecting his fans and claiming he often gets away with even worse at home.
They argue that the pushback is long overdue and that he deserves to be held accountable.
However, others believe he should be corrected with love rather than completely written off, especially as a major figure in the global rise of Afrobeats.
This brings the conversation to a bigger question: How long will this backlash last, and will Burna Boy truly learn from it?
