Lagos Strengthens Public Service as Sanwo-Olu Swears in New Officials
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has sworn in seven new Permanent Secretaries, urging them to uphold professionalism and deliver impactful governance across the state’s public service.
The ceremony, held at the Banquet Hall of Lagos House, Ikeja, also featured the inauguration of the Lagos State Health Service Commission, signaling a renewed focus on strengthening key institutions within the state.
According to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho, the appointments are part of ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency and accountability across ministries, departments, and agencies.
The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries include Engr. Adeyemi Adetunji Adesanya (Ministry of Urban Development), Mrs. Durodola Olusola Bukonla (Local Government Service Commission), Mrs. Oladeji Oluwatoyin Olubunmi (Cabinet Office), and Mr. Sorungbe Tiwalade Adeyinka (Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology).
Others are Arc. Olukareh Bolanle Monica (Office of Works), Dr. Oluwo Adenike Oluwafunmilayo (Health District II), and Dr. Martins Babajide Olumuyiwa (Bureau of Public Defender).
In a related development, Governor Sanwo-Olu inaugurated the Lagos State Health Service Commission, appointing Dr. Oguntimehin Olukayode Olumuyiwa as Chairman. Members of the commission include Dr. Ogboye Olusegun Abayomi, Dr. Odunuga Omolaja Odushola, Pharm. Dr. Adejumo Moyosore Wuraola, and Dr. Mrs. Fadipe Ololade Omolayo.
Addressing the appointees, the governor described their new roles as a call to higher responsibility, stressing the need to strengthen governance structures and improve service delivery, particularly in critical sectors such as healthcare, infrastructure, and public administration.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a more responsive, efficient, and result-driven public service capable of meeting the demands of Lagos State’s growing population.
