Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, “Our Oversabi Aunty”: GoldMyne Woman of the Week

Lately there has been a rise in phenomenal women in different industries. Today’s woman of the week is taking over the Nigerian Industry one blockbuster movie at a time.

Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi born on September 5, 1984 in Auchi, Edo State is a Nigerian actor, filmmaker and entrepreneur, known for being a comic chest of creativity. From acting to producing and directing, she constantly proves that Nigerian women are achievers.

She holds a National Diploma in Business Studies from Iree polytechnic, Osun State and later furthered her education by obtaining a degree in Philosophy at Olabisi Onabanjo University.

Her acting career began in 2003 where she starred in yoruba movies, after being discovered by veteran actor Bukky Wright. Toyin took on minor roles in a bid to get to the top, this resilience helped shape her craft as it made it easy to step into the spotlight for prominent roles.

Her career took a major turn in 2017 when she transitioned from Yoruba movies to Mainstream Nollywood with Alakada Reloaded, which grossed over 74 million naira as a producer and leading star. This success led up to other major roles in movies like The Ghost and the Tout & Elevator baby cementing her stance in Nollywood.

Fame, however, often comes with pain. The actor revealed several years ago that she turned to substances while dealing with depression and it took a huge toll on her, but with the help of God, family and a few friends she was able to get through. In her words, “It was like an awakening. I realised I deserve more and that i needed to keep looking at the bigger picture.”

Notwithstanding, the prolific actor has gone on to star in major movies like Gangs of Lagos, Malaika, King of Thieves, IJakumo: the Born Again Stripper, Iyalode and many others…

She is said to be releasing her new movie “Oversabi Aunty” on the 19th of December, 2025.

Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi has won so many awards in her career including the highly coveted best actress in a drama at the AMVCA’s.

While balancing being a devoted wife and mother to her husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi and their children.

They say ” Heavy is the head that lies the crown” Toyin Abraham has proven to be capable of wearing the crown as a queen in her field, with her constant show of commitment, consistency and hard work.
