Shettima, Uzodinma, and Other Leaders Launch LEEP Initiative to Equip Youths for Future Work

On April 15, 2025, in Abuja, the Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP) was officially launched, marking a critical step in addressing unemployment and preparing Nigerian youth for the demands of the global economy. The initiative, spearheaded by Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, is designed to bridge the gap between Nigeria’s vast human potential and the modern job market.

The launch, which was witnessed by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Imo Governor Hope Uzodinma, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, Minister of State for Finance, and other key figures from the Nigerian Labour Congress and various organizations, emphasized the importance of sustainable career development. Onyejeocha highlighted that LEEP is not just a job creation scheme but a comprehensive program focused on long-term career growth and poverty reduction.

Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite described LEEP as a transformational initiative that aligns with Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda. She noted that it represents a critical effort to equip Nigerians with the skills and opportunities necessary to compete on the global stage.

The LEEP initiative offers digital skills training, entrepreneurship mentorship, and structured pathways to employment, directly addressing the skills gap in Nigeria. It aims to empower young Nigerians, preparing them for the changing dynamics of the workforce while reducing the nation’s dependency on traditional employment models.

With the global economy shifting rapidly, LEEP provides a proactive solution to ensure Nigerian youths are ready for the workforce of tomorrow. Young Nigerians are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to access the training, mentorship, and employment platforms offered by the program.
