NEMA calls for caution as ‘massive gas leak’ is reported in Ikeja Computer Village, other areas of Lagos capital [VIDEO]

There is a massive gas leak around Computer Village, Awolowo Road, Oba Akran, Medical Road, Anifowoshe areas of Ikeja, the Lagos State capital.

Police officers and fire service personnel are reportedly near a bridge in the area to monitor the situation, with residents now being warned to avoid the vicinities.

Ibrahim Farinloye, the acting coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed the development and called for calm and caution.

Farinloye, who called in on a live TVC News program on Wednesday morning, informed residents of the development and the need to stay safe and avoid the affected area.

“Residents around Computer Village, Underbridge Awolowo Way, and Oba Akran axis, Anifowose Street, Medical Road must not open shops or use open naked fire for safety reasons,” he said.

“I want to assure everyone that all necessary agencies are on the ground to ensure safety at the site.

“We want to implore people to stay away from the scene,” he said.
