PDP would die if I didn’t plot to remove Secondus as national chairman — Governor Nyesom Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that he was involved in the conspiracy of unseating the Uche Secondus as national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Following an internal crisis that recently rocked the opposition PDP, stakeholders of the party called for the removal of Secondus as chairman of the party.

A high court in Rivers on August 24 granted an interim order restraining Secondus from parading himself as the party’s chair.

The decision led to the recently concluded national convention of the party which saw the emergence of former Senate President, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, as the new chairman.

“I have never denied of being involved in the removal of Secondus; he was not doing well so his ward first suspended him and I am glad they did that,” Wike told BBC Pidgin.

“I am not the type of governor that deny their actions. I know I have hand in his removal and I’m not afraid to say it. I did that because if we allowed him to continue as PDP chairman, the party would die.”
